Register an account on this website and confirm the link we email you.
Open KangaRO from the desktop shortcut and log in with your account name and password.

Problems?

"Cannot init d3d OR grf file has problem" when the game starts. Try these in order:

Check the download. The installer is large; if the download stopped or your antivirus blocked it, a game file can be damaged. Compare the SHA-256 above with your file (right-click the file, or in PowerShell: Get-FileHash KangaRO-Installer.exe). If they differ, download it again, then run it again to install over the old copy.
Install DirectX 9. The game needs it. Search for Microsoft's "DirectX End-User Runtime (June 2010)", download it from microsoft.com and run it. Also update your graphics driver.
Check your antivirus. Open its protection history, restore anything it removed from C:\KangaRO, and add that folder as an exception.
Install in the right place. Use C:\KangaRO (the default). Do not run the game from inside a zip file, a Downloads folder, or Program Files.
Laptop with two graphics cards? Make Windows run KangaRO.exe on the stronger one (Settings, System, Display, Graphics).

Still stuck? Tell the server owner what Windows version you have and send a screenshot of the error.
